Months shy of our 5th birthday we are celebrating a major milestone: we’ve fixed 40,000 dogs and cats. By our numbers we have prevented over 700,000 accidental LITTERS. When we opened our doors in 2011 the Charlotte community killed 14,000 healthy dogs and cats a year. Now that number is down to 7,000. While that is still 7,000 too many because of our efforts and the tireless work of other animal organizations that number is slowly diminishing. Spay neuter saves lives. Our work is proof of that. Because of the work we’re doing we’re slowing the euthanasia rate in Charlotte and getting more adoptable animals the forever homes they deserve.
So here’s to the first 40,000 – we’re only a short time away from the next 40,000.
